Surplus Sale

General information

The standard life of a computer is 3-4 years. Once a computer surpasses that age it is kept on as a team or testing computer or it is sold to employees as surplus.

Computers sold to employees are sold at a price generally quite lower than any online price listed for an equivalent used computer. These computers have been wiped and are ready for use. Windows computers are wiped with a general admin user and no password. Apple computers are wiped without a user being setup.

The best way to get the most recent information on surplus sales is to join the #surplus_sale Slack channel and ask questions there.

How the surplus sale works

  • Join the #surplus_sale Slack channel and wait for any announcements.
  • Each surplus sale will have a PDF document uploaded to the Slack channel that shows the specs, price and serial numbers for each computer that is for sale. View the document to determine which computer you are interested in.
  • Login to https://snipeit.efilecabinet.com/ to request the computer or item you wish to purchase. You can look up the item by serial number.
